My career has woven back and forth between academic research settings and middle school classrooms. It matters to me that science gets communicated in a way that ignites people's curiosity, respects their intelligence, and offers flashes of insight. I developed a knack for wrestling with complex academic literature and digesting it into something useful to a broader population, though I never thought that would lead to founding a company.

A year ago I got injured and asked what I thought was a simple question: "So when should I apply ice vs. heat?" Beneath the maelstrom of mixed opinions on the internet I found a body of peer-reviewed research that pointed to a solution which doesn't exist on the market - a single device that could offer cold, contrast, and heat therapy to cover all phases of injury recovery along with athletic fatigue. The first Contrast Cube was made out of two coolers connected with valves in my garage. It leaked on the floor... but it worked, and I was hooked.
